Install the Uruvak Bridge plugin
Download the Uruvak Bridge zip, install it on WordPress, and get past the upload errors that stop most first attempts.
Uruvak Bridge is a small WordPress plugin. It is the only link between your shop and Uruvak — your app reads its products, categories, cart and orders through it, and it holds the design you publish. Installing it takes about two minutes and changes nothing your web customers see. It does not link your store to Uruvak yet; that happens on the next page.
What you need first#
- WordPress 6.0 or newer, running PHP 8.1 or newer.
- WooCommerce installed and active, with at least one published product.
- An administrator account on the WordPress site. The Uruvak Bridge screen is hidden from every other role.
Download the plugin#
Get the zip from your dashboard
Sign in at app.uruvak.com. In the right-hand column, under Connect a store, press Download plugin (.zip). The same file is on uruvak.com in the top menu as WordPress plugin, and inside any store's Store connection panel as Download the Uruvak Bridge plugin (.zip). All three are the same download.
Leave the file zipped
The download is about 70 KB and must stay a
.zip. Safari unzips downloads automatically unless you turn off Open "safe" files after downloading in its settings, and a folder cannot be installed. If you already have a folder, download the file again in another browser rather than re-zipping it yourself — a hand-made zip usually puts the plugin one folder too deep and WordPress rejects it.
Install it in WordPress#
Open Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin
In your own WordPress admin, go to Plugins › Add New (newer WordPress versions call the menu item Add New Plugin), then press Upload Plugin next to the heading at the top of the page.
Choose the zip and press Install Now
Pick the file you downloaded — it is named something like
uruvak-bridge-0.2.1.zip— then press Install Now.The upload box on Plugins › Add New. Choose the zip exactly as it downloaded, then Install Now. Press Activate Plugin
WordPress reports Plugin installed successfully. Press Activate Plugin. Nothing else is asked of you — Uruvak Bridge has no setup wizard and no settings form.
Find Uruvak Bridge in the menu
A new top-level item appears in the WordPress sidebar with a smartphone icon, below WooCommerce and above Appearance. Open it.
The Uruvak Bridge screen immediately after activating. The store is installed but not yet linked.
What the screen is telling you#
The status card shows an amber Not connected pill, your site address under Store, and Activate below to link this store under Status. That is correct at this point: the plugin is live, the link is not made yet.
Under Get started, step 1 is already green — Plugin installed. The Uruvak API is live on this store. The one button that matters is the amber Connect with Uruvak →, top right of the page and again inside the Connect this store card. Both do exactly the same thing.
What the plugin does once it is active#
- It serves your catalog — products, categories, search, cart, checkout and order history — to your phone app.
- It stores the design you publish from the Uruvak Studio, which is why a Live Publish reaches phones in seconds without building a new app.
- It tells Uruvak when an order changes status, so the shopper who placed it can get a push notification. Only orders placed by a signed-in shopper qualify; guest checkouts are skipped.
It does not touch your theme, your web checkout, your other plugins or your SEO. Web shoppers see no difference at all.
Check the plugin is really running#
Open this address in any browser, with your own domain in place of the example:

A healthy store answers with a short line of text containing "woocommerce":true and "connection":{"connected":false,...} — plugin live, WooCommerce seen, not linked yet. Three readings are worth knowing:
| What comes back | What it means |
|---|---|
| A "page not found" from your own theme | Your permalinks are set to Plain. Open Settings › Permalinks, choose Post name, and press Save Changes. Uruvak cannot reach a store with Plain permalinks. |
"woocommerce":false | WooCommerce is installed but not active. Activate it, or your app will have an empty catalog. |
| Nothing loads at all | The site is behind a maintenance-mode plugin, a password, or a firewall. When the connection breaks works through those. |
When the install goes wrong#
| What WordPress says | What to do |
|---|---|
| The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found. | You uploaded an unzipped folder, a re-zipped folder, or the wrong file. Download again and upload the original .zip untouched. |
| Destination folder already exists. | An older copy of Uruvak Bridge is already on the site. Under Plugins, deactivate and delete it, then upload the new zip. Deleting the plugin does not delete your connection or your published design — both are stored separately in WordPress and come back when you reinstall. |
| The link you followed has expired. or The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini. | Your host's upload limit is smaller than the file. That is unusual for a 70 KB download, so it normally means the limit is set extremely low. Ask your host to raise it, or ask them to place the plugin folder on the server for you. |
| Sorry, you are not allowed to install plugins on this site. | You are signed in as something other than an administrator, or the site is part of a WordPress network where only the network administrator installs plugins. |
| A blank white screen or a fatal error right after activating | The site is on PHP 8.0 or older. Ask your host to switch it to PHP 8.1 or newer, then activate the plugin again. |
If the plugin activates but the Uruvak Bridge menu item never appears, you are not an administrator on that site. Ask whoever owns the site to give you the administrator role, or to do the connection step with you.
With the plugin active, your shop and your Uruvak account still do not know about each other. Connect your store to Uruvak is the one-minute handshake that joins them.
