Questions we get asked

Straight answers about developers, fees, iPhones, the app stores, what happens if you stop paying, and what your shoppers see.

When you finish this page
You know exactly what Uruvak does for you, what it does not do, and what it will cost you outside your plan.

Short answers first, with a link to the page that covers each one properly. Where the honest answer is “no”, it says no.

Do I need a developer?#

No. Everything in Uruvak is point and click: you install a WordPress plugin, arrange blocks on four screens, pick a theme, and press a button to build the app.

Two jobs are fiddlier than the rest, and neither needs code. Push notifications need you to create your own free Firebase project in Google's console and upload two files (Push notifications). Getting the finished app onto Google Play needs a Google Play developer account and a listing you write yourself (Get your app onto Google Play).

Will it slow my store down?#

No. The Uruvak Bridge plugin puts nothing on the pages your web shoppers see — no scripts and no stylesheets are added to your storefront. It answers requests from your app on its own address, adds one screen in wp-admin, and otherwise stays out of the way.

Your app traffic does reach your server, because your shop is where the products, the cart and the orders live. A phone browsing your app costs your server roughly what a phone browsing your website costs it.

Does Uruvak take a cut of my sales?#

No — 0%. Uruvak never touches your money. Orders are created in your own WooCommerce, and payment happens on your own store's payment page, through the gateways you already use. You pay the monthly plan and nothing else.

Can I get an iPhone app?#

Not today. Uruvak builds Android only. The iOS button exists in Settings › Releases but it is permanently switched off and reads “iOS — soon”.

Note

Nothing you do in Uruvak can produce an iPhone app right now, on any plan — not the $39 Launch plan, not the $149 Agency plan. Some pricing copy still mentions iOS; the product cannot do it. If iOS is the reason you are buying, wait. Your design work carries over when it arrives, so there is nothing to redo.

Do you put my app on the app store for me?#

No. Uruvak gives you a finished Android app file to download from Settings › Releases. You create the Google Play developer account (a one-off $25 paid to Google, not to us), you upload the file, you write the listing, and Google reviews it — usually one to two days. No Google or Apple account is connected to Uruvak anywhere, so we cannot submit anything on your behalf.

Before you go on

Today's download is an APK signed with Uruvak's shared test key, and every release carries the same internal version number. Google Play wants an App Bundle signed with your own release key, and refuses a second upload that has not changed version. So the file is perfect for installing on your own phones and sending to your team, but it is not yet a file Google Play will accept for a public listing. Read Get your app onto Google Play before you promise anyone a launch date, and email support@uruvak.com so we know you are waiting on it.

What happens to my app if I stop paying?#

It keeps running. Cancelling is not deleting: you stay on your paid plan until the end of the period you already paid for, then drop to Free, and the app your shoppers have carries on serving exactly what you last published.

What you lose is the ability to change it. On Free you get five Live Publishes for the lifetime of the account, and if you already used them before upgrading, you come back with none left — the count never resets. If your plan allowed more stores than Free does, the oldest store stays editable and the extras are marked Locked: they keep running, but they cannot be published or released until you resubscribe or archive the others. Details in Upgrading, downgrading and cancelling.

Can I have more than one store?#

Yes, on agency. Free and launch both include one store; Agency includes five. Billing is per account, not per store — one plan covers every store you connect, and there is no per-store price. Going above five is not possible today.

If you have more stores than your new plan allows, archive the extras on the Billing page before you switch, or the change is refused. See Plans and limits.

Do my customers need to register again?#

No. The app signs shoppers in against the customer accounts that already exist in your WooCommerce store, with the same email and password they use on your website. Someone who signs up inside the app becomes a real WooCommerce customer you can see in wp-admin, with their orders and addresses in the usual place.

The one thing that does not carry over is the shopping cart — a cart started on your website does not appear in the app, and the app's cart is emptied if the shopper force-quits it. See What your shoppers see.

What happens when I change a product price?#

Nothing, from your side. Prices, stock, names, images, categories and variations are read live from your store every time a shopper opens a screen. Change a price in WooCommerce and the app shows the new price on the next load. There is nothing to publish and nothing to rebuild.

Do I need a new release every time I add products?#

No. Adding products, changing prices, editing descriptions and reorganising categories all happen in WooCommerce and reach the app immediately.

Design changes — blocks, colors, fonts, theme, bottom tabs, trust badges — need one Publish Live, which takes seconds. Only five things ever need a new release, because they are baked into the installed app: the app name, the app icon, the package name, the Firebase file for push, and the Google Sign-In iOS client id. Uruvak tells you: an amber New release required pill appears in the Studio when you change one of them, and the release button stays disabled with “Nothing changed that needs a release. Publish live instead — it's instant.” when you have not. See Publish live and Take a release.

How long does everything take?#

A Live Publish is live in seconds. Shoppers see it the next time they open the app, or when they pull to refresh — someone who leaves the app open on screen for an hour can be an hour behind.

A release takes about ten minutes to build, and runs in the background while you keep working. Google's review of your upload is on top of that, usually one to two days.

Can I move my app to another Uruvak account?#

Not by yourself — there is no transfer button. Connecting the same shop from a second Uruvak account re-points the WordPress plugin at the new account, which leaves the first account's store reading Not connected, and your design does not travel with it: the new account gets a fresh, empty app.

If you are handing a shop over to a client or to an agency, email support@uruvak.com before you touch anything.

Is there a free trial?#

There is no trial. There is a Free plan instead: $0, one store, five Live Publishes for the lifetime of the account, and every block and theme included. That is enough to design a real app, take a release, install it on your phone and see the whole thing working before you pay anything. See Plans and limits.

What do I need besides my Uruvak plan?#

Three things, and only the first is required today:

  • A WooCommerce store on WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 8.1 or newer, with permalinks set to anything other than “Plain”, and the ability to make outgoing requests. See Before you begin.
  • A free Firebase project from Google, if you want push notifications or Google sign-in for shoppers.
  • A Google Play developer account, $25 once, paid to Google, when you are ready to distribute. Apple's $99 a year is not needed, because there is no iOS app to publish.

Something is broken and I do not know why#

Start with Error messages, decoded — it quotes every message the product can show you and says what each one means. Connection problems have their own page, When the connection breaks. If neither helps, email support@uruvak.com with your store name, the exact wording on screen, and roughly when it happened.
